Books and beer, rugby and research

Last year we were limited by the size of the car (a Smart two-seater convertible not the most capacious vehicle for luggage);  this year more by what we could physically manage to carry, and time was limited too because we had to do some research into Edinburgh pubs (for my next novel) of which there are some wonderful ones, and there just happened to be the Six Nations to watch (though the Wales France game didn't hold much interest so we went in search of food instead).
In the end I managed to buy twenty-nine exceeding last year's hold by a round dozen.   Many - Gillian Galbraith, Craig Russell, Caro Ramsay, G J Moffatt (and possibly James Kelman) - were sought as a result of reading Len Wanner's excellent crime writer interviews (http://thecrimeofitall.com/) which are not only a source of potential reading but also prompt an incisive explanation of the writings behind them, and frequently include recommendations of other writers.
