Colleagues many years ago
trust and liking,
her support when things went bad
and an Irish holiday
Years before we let out spouses meet
in case they spoilt things ...
tonight we talked of a wedding,
and our granddaughters.
I have a couple of friends I've known for nearly two decades, and this resonates. When we met we talked of our pregnancies and toddlers; now we discuss high school graduations and college choices. Another ten years it will be retirement and grandchildren. Nice to have someone who remembers when. . .
