Jogged memory

Found this photograph loose in the back of an album.
Written on the back ‘Scapa Haven October 1997, Sunday lunch.’
Taken fourteen years ago in a house we no longer own.

Table, chair, easel, jug and jar (with brushes) we still have.
No idea where the painting is, my first ever oil painting,
in a style now totally alien.

But the lunch is very familiar indeed.

  1. That's extremely good for a first oil painting. I can't really get on with oils. Too slow for me.

  2. I don't think I ever did more than another two or three, but I don't consider myself a painter really. (And thanks for the compliment but I think the photograph flatters the painting over-much)

  3. I would swear I had never seen that painting before in my life - what happened to it?
I have photographed a still life this evening, as part of another new project :)

  4. It's yours, for a small, and very reasonable, fee ;-)

  6. Great photo - a still life in itself, with the table, the window, and the still life painting + its reflection. Glad you at least have the photo.
