We're going to Berlin tomorrow
to meet with my daughter
and a couple of her very good friends
to celebrate her birthday.
Last time I went to Berlin,
in 2004,
I was riding pillion
on a 1972
BSA Thunderbolt - an A65
From Hull on the ferry
landing in Amsterdam
and I remember
seeing in the sign
as we rode out of the ferry terminal
'Berlin 623k'
It was a bit heart-sinking
but we'd planned
to take three days.
Here I am drawing
the Dom (I think),
amidst a couple of hundred
other BSAs
This time we fly.

See you there x
ReplyDeleteBerlin! my city! It's the one place in the world I might just give up sailing for... maybe... What are you riding this time? :)
ReplyDeleteMichelle - this time we're flying from Liverpool. The last time was the longest bike trip I ever did and felt like an achievement indeed!
ReplyDeleteFlying from LIVERPOOL? You might as well take the 600Km ride! Seriously though.... last time I was in Berlin the wall was still up. I'd love to go back and see it now. Have you visited the blue church?
ReplyDeleteEdit...
You are never going to believe this but the word verification just came up with 'prost'! So have a good trip.
Liverpool is a lot less sensible than Teesside but unfortunately there's sweet FA that flies from Teesside these days ... It's only ~3 hours drive. And no, not been to the blue church - last time were were herded around somewhat ... ;)
ReplyDeleteI think you'd like the church. It's modern stained glass and reminds me a bit of some of your print work. (a bit.....)
