For Eloise the promise of a long weekend in Dublin was too tempting to forego when at the last minute her best friend May emailed to say "Damn! Shingles diagnosed. DON'T PANIC. Meet Chris Waterloo Bar 8pm Enjoy"
But on arrival she looked in vain for May's sister, and it had taken her some time to realise that the dark haired man sitting opposite the door had been smiling at her, before eventually taking pity on her confusion and coming across to her, introducing himself as Chris
His taking her arm and steering her to sit opposite him was the first move in what was to be a weekend in which something akin to a lunatic Irish chess game was played out, using mis-matched pieces on a board which combined vertiginous nightmare and mystical dream sequence, none of which made sense then or ever after.

Have you actually written that book or is it in the pipeline? Because I think you should!
ReplyDeleteNo - I haven't! And it is a book I think - thought - would be well beyond me. I really don't know where the inspiration came from, except for the fact that the picture resembled a bar in Dublin I once went to, some ten or more years ago.
ReplyDeleteI can see this challenge being a bit like Thinking Ten - an opportunity to stock a 'pot of potentials'
Definately great potential for a whole book! I loved this and would have bought it based on your blurb. Great job!
ReplyDeleteI agree with the others, this would make a fantastic book. I'm hooked already!
ReplyDeleteBook Blurb Friday
Beware the charm of strangers - particularly Irish men;-) This sounds most intriguing.
ReplyDeleteWow, Sandra. You are a great writer. I'm your newest follower.
ReplyDeleteMargo, Ellie, Jabblog and Oregon GoCaJ - your comments, and your followings, are very much appreciated - what a friendly crowd Lisa's Friday Book Blurb has generated!
ReplyDeletewow sounds like a drama and action-packed book. I also expect a lot of bar scenes, I love Irish pubs!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a good read. So much that could happen, and probably does. I love stories that explore complex relationships between characters.
ReplyDeleteIt never ceases to amaze me how everyone comes up with some really interesting blurbs for this BBF! Way to go.
ReplyDeleteWhat an idea! Truly a good combination of psychotic thriller, fantasy, and possible romance?
ReplyDeleteVery smart way of putting a provocative blurb together. Well done.
ReplyDeleteok, you do this as a living don't you? That was awesome
ReplyDeleteNow, I want to know more about this Chris person...lol! Sounds like Eloise could be in for more than she ever expected. Loved the blurb!

Sandra---A "lunatic Irish chess game..." what an interesting image.
ReplyDeleteThe combination of nightmare and mystical dream intrigues me.
My question for you...When are you going to start writing this book? You think the idea is "beyond you"? Who else but you could do it?
You've got me. You told me just enough to hook me and now I'm stuck trying to put all the pieces together on my own. Great blurb!
ReplyDeleteHooked...now write:)
