Vacillating today between two mindsets:
Is the enjoyable writing of a novel self-indulgence
or the eventual to-be-hoped-for, enlightenment
of at least a small proportion of the reading world?
Thanks to both of you - this is a too-often recurring twitch of ... dunno ... guilt or something?, which usually occurs when I am loving my characters but lacking a plot!
Perhaps it is both, at different times, and also other things you may only dream of now that will come to pass later. :) That you enjoy it is alone reason enough to pursue the endeavor.

It's definitely not a self-indulgence - too much hard work for that!
