NaNoquandry - also on 6S

It is stressed, and stressed again that the best approach to writing these 50,000 words is to just write, write, write.

‘Do not edit’ they advise, ‘do not re-write’ and even ‘do not re-read’ but my typing is not so good that I can refrain from editing – far too many red zig-zags.

Sentences do not always say what I mean because sometimes the meaning only becomes clear when I express it wrongly the first time, and sometimes I have to put in a wrong but closely approximating word, hoping to replace it when the right one emerges from the back of my brain.

I have to re-read because it is my characters who dictate what comes next and I need to remind, and surprise, myself, with what they have done already, before continuing.

And I hate typing reams of fill-in stuff which under normal circumstances I know I would re-write, would remove.

And where’s the merit in a novel full of drivel?
