Last night I sat up late to finish Andrew Greig's 'Electric Brae' and now wonder if I have the language, the poetry, the experience to write
anything which even approaches this. I can but aspire. Write what you know, and make it more so I suppose. Twisted truths. Yeah.

ReplyDeletethere is space enough for both poetic and engaging character writing, and many more sorts. You don't have to be all things to all people all the time.
Thank you for that - am just feeling a bit despondent at the moment in the face of such brilliance - it's a realisation that my voice will never match his in quality etc etc. ... but at least I haven't reached the stage where tears are trickling down my cheeks ;-)
